It's a Blush Affair!

Updated: Nov 25, 2020

Diwali Pooja

Festive wear has always been my favorite, I've always needed an excuse to wear a pretty suit or lengha. Today, the fact that I am trusted to write about different designers, is a huge honor on its own. This year the festive season has been very low key, but that is only because COVID has rained on all of our parades. Traditionally, on Diwali, everyone wears new clothes, and even though ready-made is available in beautiful patterns, Diwali is special, we all want to look beautiful, and unique! After all, no one wants to wear what someone else is wearing! I had the honor of wearing the most beautiful custom-made outfit by The Blush Affair this Diwali and I can't wait to tell you all about the amazing designer Simrat Grewal Kular.

Full look of the suit

Meet Simrat, a beautiful woman, with amazing taste, and finesse. Simrat was always complimented on her style by so many people, and often asked if she would design outfits for them! She always aspired to be more than just a housewife, and like any woman (myself included) she loves to shop and not just for herself, but for the entire household, she always knows the trends before anyone else. Taking all that positive energy, she started The Blush Affair. I asked Simrat, how she came up with the name The Blush Affair. She mentioned her love for the color blush so it seemed pretty apt for her company.

Charles made an appearance

The outfit I was gifted by The Blush Affair was a stunning blue velvet suit with brocade three-quarter cigarette pants. This suit was nothing less than fit for a royal! I personally, had never opted to wear velvet before, so my initial reaction was "Oh My". I had no idea how I was going to pull it off, and I would not disappoint, but when the pants were only three-quarter in length, boy was I confused! I messaged Simrat and I was like are you sure this is mine? She assured me it will look fabulous, just try it on. I did, and I fell in love! The fit was perfect, the embroidery was just stunning, the amount of detail that went into the intricate paisley design was amazing, but the sleeves was to me the showstopper! Cold shoulder sleeves, and the heavy embroidery on the velvet in a bronze/gold was just eye-catching. The velvet quality was spot on, soft and really comfortable! Brocades have always been my favorites, from lenghas to suits, there has always been an elegance and richness in the brocade fabric, the three-quarter cigarette pants gave me that exact same feeling. If I can rate this outfit, it's a 10/10, no questions asked.

On a personal note, Simrat gave me the opportunity to try a new silhouette, and a fabric I hadn't worn before either, I can't thank her enough! When I posted the Diwali pictures, I got so many compliments wondering who was the designer, my aunt asked immediately to share who the designer is. One thing I learned and would like to share with all of you, is trust your designer! Simrat is someone you can trust with your visions and her designs. She chose something based on what she knew would look nice on my body type, and she was absolutely right. Often we fear trusting someone new with our outfits, but I can tell you, not a stitch was out of place, the finishing was perfect, it's like she checked every stitch with a magnifying glass! That shows true dedication for her work. I can't recommend Simrat and The Blush Affair enough, I know I will be using them for my next event. I hope you do as well.
